My dog loves to roll in stinky things.  Why does he do this?

DEAR CONFUSED,

This is perfectly normal.  Many dogs find “stinky” things to be irresistible.  I especially love the aroma of old garbage.    

Some humans believe that this is an instinct from the cave dog days.  Before people waited on us hand & foot, we actually had to hunt & masking our own scents may have made us less detectable to potential prey.
